STORIES all around us.
Los Encinos School's
Annual Report
2023-2024
Letter from the Head of School

This annual report gives me the wonderful opportunity to reflect back on the 2023-2024 school year and the many adventures, lessons, and stories that filled our days in the classroom and beyond. Our theme, “Stories All Around Us,” was particularly appropriate. We discovered that stories aren’t just found in books—they’re everywhere, waiting to be told and shared.
From the up-close-and-personal, such as being able to study a tiny caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly, to stories that are, literally, out of this world (such as the entire school witnessing a total eclipse of the sun on April 8th).
I’m grateful for so many people in my life, but there’s a group that easily tops the list: the faculty and staff. Truly, we continually attract the finest professionals in the field of education, and together we work to deliver a top-notch, child-centered program to our students.
Diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging (DEIJB) remains central to our mission as a school. As we focus on the “whole child,” we meet students where they are, not where we expect them to be. Our small size gives us the ability to know the children as individuals, so we are able to partner with the parents to enhance their children’s strengths and support them through any challenges in order to create a community of belonging where everyone truly feels connected. We will continue to cultivate an inclusive environment where all students thrive.
Keeping with the narrative theme, every good story has a solid structure, and LES wouldn’t be able to strive to the heights we do without the incredible support of the tireless Parent Association and Board of Trustees. They work diligently — often behind-the-scenes without much fanfare — to keep the operations running smoothly.
Last, but certainly not least, is the group that drives the plot in so many important ways: the children. As we work in unison – teachers, administrators, and parents – our strength comes from being united behind the ultimate goal of educating and guiding our children to be wise and ethical leaders of tomorrow.
I’m proud to say that all of our efforts combined during the 2023-2024 school year to write another successful chapter in the grand saga of our little school.
I look forward to seeing what our newest graduates accomplish as they turn the page!
With grace,
